Magnesium Alloy Melting Furnace Heater
Darui Electric recommends for you
①Single-chamber furnace: melting and holding are performed in the same furnace;
②Double-chamber furnace: the melting furnace and holding furnace work independently, and the molten metal is transferred through a U-shaped tube that can be heated and temperature-controlled. Since temperature fluctuations and slag caused by charging only exist in the melting furnace, the purity of the magnesium alloy melt can be ensured;
③In the three-chamber furnace, the temperature of the melting chamber is relatively low, generally around 650°C, which is conducive to Cot gas protection. The middle chamber plays a role in slag collection, and the supply chamber provides higher-temperature magnesium alloy melt for die casting.
Indirect heating crucible furnaces are usually used to melt casting magnesium alloys, and their structure is similar to that of crucible furnaces for melting aluminum alloys. Due to the different physical and chemical properties of magnesium alloys compared to aluminum alloys, the crucible material and furnace lining refractory material are different, and appropriate modifications to the furnace structure are required.
Once an oxide scale forms on the surface of the steel crucible, a thermite reaction may occur between the iron oxide and the magnesium melt, releasing a large amount of heat and generating temperatures above 3273K, which could lead to an explosion. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure that there are no oxide scale fragments at the bottom of the furnace, and a leak tray capable of holding the melt should be placed under the crucible to prevent leakage. Especially in areas where it is difficult to determine whether oxide scale has formed, a Ni-Cr alloy coating can be applied to the heating surface of the steel crucible to reduce oxide scale formation without reducing the thermal efficiency of the furnace.
How to heat a magnesium alloy melting furnace? Heating methods for magnesium alloy melting furnaces
The heating methods for magnesium alloy melting furnaces include resistance heating, gas heating, and oil heating, etc. Comparatively, resistance heating is safer. The furnace types include single-chamber, double-chamber, and three-chamber furnaces. The characteristics of these three furnace types are as follows:
