Principle of Magnetic Induction Heating

Comparing with power frequency transformers, both are electromagnetic conversion devices, but they go to two different extremes. Without going into complex principles, I believe everyone will understand through my comparison below.

A changing current can produce a changing magnetic field, and a changing magnetic field can generate current. This is the working principle of a transformer. At the same time, a changing magnetic field also has an eddy current effect, which is the principle of magnetic induction heating.

For transformers, eddy currents also exist. These eddy currents generate heat, which is harmful. To reduce the eddy current effect, as can be seen from the picture, transformers are made of many silicon steel sheets instead of a single piece of silicon steel. The purpose is to reduce the cross-sectional area and artificially increase the electrical impedance.

For magnetic induction heating, eddy currents are useful, and the higher the efficiency, the better. Therefore, the working frequency of the changing current is increased to enhance the eddy current effect. At the same time, magnetic induction heating is only effective on metal steel sheets, and the better the electrical conductivity of the metal, the more obvious the heating effect.
