Three parallel insulated copper stranded wires serve as power busbars. Heating wires are wound around the inner insulation layer, and these heating wires are sequentially connected to the power busbars AB-BC-CA-AB... at regular intervals (i.e., "heating section length"), forming continuous parallel resistors between each three phases. When three-phase power is applied to the busbars, all parallel resistors heat up simultaneously, thus forming a continuous three-phase heating tape.

DXW/PZ/J Type Self-limiting Electric Heating Tape
Self-limiting electric heating tape
Model meaning:
Example: DXW-PZ/J indicates: insulation material is PTC composite, rated working voltage is 220V, output power per meter at 20℃ is 20W self-limiting electric heating tape.
Working principle: Two copper stranded wires are power busbars. A self-limiting heating core material with positive temperature coefficient characteristics is extruded around the busbars. When power is turned on, the current flows transversely through the core material, forming a continuous parallel heating body. The heating core material of this electric heating tape uses temperature-memory conductive molecules processed by special technology. When current passes through the network of conductive molecules, heat is generated. In cold state, current flows easily, producing a large amount of heat. As temperature rises, the matrix expands, the conductive molecules reduce network density, cutting off most paths, current decreases, and heat output decreases accordingly, thus achieving automatic temperature control and bringing heating to thermal balance. When temperature drops, the temperature-memory conductive molecules contract again, restoring the previously cut circuits, current increases again, and heat output increases. This characteristic is called "temperature self-limiting characteristic", hence the name "self-limiting electric heating tape".

The power per unit length of DXW type self-limiting electric heating tape is equal, and its power does not increase with total power. It can be cut arbitrarily on site. The "self-limiting performance" exists throughout the entire length of the heating tape, thus effectively ensuring the thermal stability of the pipeline. At the same time, even if self-limiting electric heating tapes cross each other, they will not overheat and burn out. It can be used for heat tracing and insulation of process pipelines below 30℃. The starting current performance of self-limiting electric heating tape is similar to that of PTC materials: a large starting current is generated at the moment of power-on, which gradually decreases over time and generally drops to the rated value after a few seconds. Since the heating tape is usually started directly, the maximum usable length of DXW-PZ/J type self-limiting electric heating tape is 100-200m. The installation of heating tape should be matched with control electrical appliances, which generally include overload, short circuit, grounding, leakage protection, and temperature protection. Self-limiting electric heating tape can be used to solve the anti-freezing and insulation of pipelines, valves, and pump bodies with medium temperature below 30℃, and is especially suitable for maintaining the process temperature of instrument pipelines.
